National Arena in Bucharest is the newest stadium in Romania, being inaugurated on September 6th 2011. Built on the site of the former “Lia Manoliu” National Stadium, the new six-storey-high Arena has a surface of 108,000 sqm and benefits from 55,000 seats.
Being one of the few stadiums in Europe meeting the criteria for the ELITE standard (UEFA Category 4 stadium), National Arena guarantees a perfectly safe and pleasant experience for football lovers.
The National Arena offers the supporters numerous complimentary facilities, such as conference halls, restaurants, 360 toilets and 2,100 parking spaces. In case of rain, the stadium’s retractable roof can be closed in 15 minutes.
Up to now, the most important event hosted by the National Arena was the UEFA Europa League Final, which took place on May 9th 2012. The match in which Atlético Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 3 – 0 was played in front of 52,347 people.

By trolley: Take trolleys no #86 or #90 to the National Arena station (for Pierre de Coubertin entrance).
By bus: Take bus #104 to the National Arena station (for Pierre de Coubertin entrance).
By tram: Take trams no #40 and #56 to the National Arena station (for Basarabia Blvd entrance).
By metro: Get off the metro at the Piaţa Muncii station and then walk for 15 minutes on Basarabia Blvd.
