Bușteni is a mountain resort on the Prahova Valley, in the Bucegi Mountains. It offers numerous water springs used in balneary treatments. In the summertime, the mountaineers can explore on over 250 routes with high degrees of difficulty in the mountains. There is a cable car (covering a distance of 4350m) taking the tourists on the Bucegi Plateau, where you can admire the Sphinx and the Old Ladies (Babele), strange rock formations. Other routes take you to Ialomița Cave or to the Cross of Heroes on the Caraiman Massif. Those who enjoy mountain-biking can take advantage of the trails that reach Omu Peak in the Bucegi Mountains. In the winter, the Kalinderu slope (1500m long), one kilometre from the centre of Bușteni, is equipped with lighting, a tele-gondola and a snow-making machine.

If you want to change the landscape, reserve a day to visit the neighbouring ski resorts Predeal, Azuga and Sinaia. The latter one will impress you with its imposing Peleș Castle, which you should not miss. Head for Brașov to visit the Black Church and the city’s medieval bastions. Other important attractions situated closer than 50km away from Bușteni are Bran Castle and Râşnov Citadel.
